4410 Kenyans win US Diversity Visa (Green Card lottery)
The US department of State has sent out letters to 4,410 Kenyans notifying them that they have won a chance to migrate to the US after being picked in the Diversity Visa 2013 (Green Card) lottery.
Kenya ranked fifth on the list of African countries who bagged the lion’s share of this year’s winners. Nigeria took the top spot with 6,218 winners, Ghana (5,105), Egypt (5,015) and Ethiopia (4,910).
Overall, the country with the highest number of winners was Ukraine with 6,424. Kenya was ranked 8th overall.
The number of Kenyan winners dropped from 4,720 last year and 4,689 in the DV 2011 lottery.
Approximately 8 million qualified entries were received in the program whose registration period began on October 4, 2011 and ended on November 5, 2011.
Entrants in the Diversity Visa 2013 program may check the status of their entries through Entrant Status Check on the E-DV website beginning on May 1, 2012 through September 30, 2013. Please remember to keep your confirmation, since more DV 2013 entrants may be selected on October 1, 2012.
For those who registered for the DV 2012 Program, entrants program may check the status of their entries through the Entrant Status Check on the E-DV website now through September 30, 2012.
