Preachers appear to understand the psychology of persons in need better than anybody. A pastor from Nigeria was in Nairobi recently with the promise of helping single women and men acquire knowledge in getting the right partner.
And as NTV’s Pamela Asigi reports, the seminar dubbed ‘Your Set Time of Marriage’, witnessed one huge rush here in Nairobi.
Pastor James Ng’ang’a of Neno Evangelism Centre
Pastor James Ng’ang’a of Neno Evangelism Centre had also made a controversial declaration during a church service, telling his female congregants that they would all find husbands within the year.
According to reports, the pastor made this promise after claiming that God had told him to make this bold declaration.
He urged the women in his congregation to believe in this prophecy and trust that they would find their ideal partners if they remained faithful.
The pastor’s promise led to a mix of reactions. While some women were hopeful and believed in the pastor’s words, others were skeptical, viewing the promise as opportunistic or even exploitative.
This promise led to media coverage and debates over the ethics of faith-based claims made by some pastors, especially when it comes to the personal lives of individuals. Critics argued that such promises were manipulative and preyed on the emotional desires of women for companionship and marriage.
Such incidents are part of a broader phenomenon in Kenya, where certain pastors are known for making bold or extravagant promises, often under the guise of faith, which can lead to emotional and financial consequences for the people involved.
