A police constable in Bungoma has been fired and consequently arrested for allegedly inciting his colleagues to go on strike via Facebook. Philip Omondi is accused of posting status updates that were deemed as an incitement.
Masquerading as Bradley Philip Charles Konjunga, the officer was generating short messages on his Facebook Timeline urging fellow police officers to “down their tools and let criminals do their work.” According to Internal Security PS, Mutea Iringo, the officer was traced by fellow colleagues.
The PS also revealed that a special police team had been put in place to investigate the origin of the Facebook messages which are currently in circulation.
