Mombasa police get new state-of-the-art cars
The police patrol cars have been fitted with cameras. The vehicles are being assembled at the Auto marine Garage near City Mall along the Mombasa-Malindi highway. They will be unveiled at the Treasury Square this morning.
“A person standing anywhere close to the vehicles will be able to be seen via a screen in the car,” said one of the mechanics working on the vehicles about a week ago.
“This will enable police to know some details of a vehicle they are pursuing so long as the cameras are on,” said a source close to governor Hassan Joho who did not want to be mentioned.
It is not yet clear how much the vehicles cost but at least 14 of the intended 48 police patrol vehicles have been cleared at the Mombasa port.
The vehicles will be distributed to all the six constituencies in the county, including Mvita, Kisauni, Nyali, Likoni, Changamwe and Jomvu.
