Word of the Day: God’s Promise – He has the power to perform

Word of the Day: God’s Promise – He has the power to perform

In Romans 4 Paul is talking about Abraham and how he hoped against hope in the face of impossible circumstances. Abraham was a man with simple faith in the faithfulness of his God.

God had promised Abraham a son to be born by his 90 year old wife, Sarah. Though Abraham himself was nearing 100 years old, and his aged body was hardly in the right condition to have children, he believed what God had promised.

Abraham didn’t waver in his faith but was fully persuaded that God had the power to do all that He promised.

Always remember that when God makes a promise to us, He has the power to perform what He has promised, no matter how impossible the circumstances are!

Word of the Day:

Slow to Speak

Mind what you say or you might say whatever comes to mind. How true! In fact, in Proverbs the author in different chapters has emphasized on the need of taming one’s tongue, “He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin” (Proverbs 13:3).

We can learn from the example of the crane birds that tend to cackle a lot while flying which draws a lot of attention to the eagles which can hunt them for a meal. The experienced cranes avoid this threat by picking up large stones in their mouths to prevent them from cackling, saving them from eagles.

As human beings, we too have a problem with our mouths. Imagine how many of our troubles could be prevented if we could learn to control our tongues and guard our speech! Today let’s ask the Lord for His help so that we can be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.

James 1:19 “My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.”
