The High Court has stopped the appointment of former Embakasi MP Ferdinand Waititu as chairman of Athi Water Services Board on grounds of integrity.
Lady Justice Mumbi Ngugi ruled that she was satisfied with the urgent application filed by businessman Benson Riitho to temporarily stop Mr Waititu from assuming office until the case is determined.
โHaving heard the applicant and read his affidavit, I am satisfied that it is in the interest of justice to grant temporary orders restraining Mr Waititu from taking office as chairman of Athi Water Service Board pending the hearing of the application,โ ruled Justice Ngugi.
Mr Riitho claimed in his application that the Cabinet Secretary in charge of Environment, Water and Natural Resources Judy Wakungu irregularly appointed Mr Waititu to head the water board without considering the integrity of the former MP.
He argued that Mr Waititu lacks personal integrity, competence and is not suitable to hold the post as demanded by constitutional threshold.
