Fresh twist :Kidero obtains order barring DPP from charging him with assault

kidero and shebeshNairobi governor Evans Kidero on Monday obtained orders from the High Court barring the Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko from charging him with assault, only a few hours after a judge in the same court allowed the DPP to charge the governor and Nairobi Women Representative Rachel Shebesh.

Dr Kidero and Ms Shebesh had failed to reach an out-of-court settlement, with the latter’s lawyer, Cecil Miller, saying his client had waited in vain for Dr Kidero to meet the terms for reconciliation and she was ready to face the charge of public disturbance.

On January 3, Justice Isaac Lenaola gave Dr Kidero and Ms Shebesh until January 10 to reach an out-of-court settlement or face the charges arising from an altercation in the governor’s office on September 6, 2013.

The High Court had originally blocked the DPP from pursuing charges against the two.

Nairobi TNA County representatives were last Friday reportedly making frantic efforts to reconcile Ms Shebesh and Dr Kidero even as the deadline for them to talk elapsed. -nation.co.ke
