Nairobi, Kenya: Raila Odinga has designated Kisumu County Senator Anyang’ Nyong’o as the ODM party leader during his absence in the country.
Raila is set to leave the country Monday night for a month long visit of the US. The visit is coordinated by the African Presidential Centre at the Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts. Raila will leave shortly before midnight Kenya time.
During his stay in the US, Raila will visit a number of institutions including universities across different states and meet with various leaders from various sectors. He will also hold meetings with Kenyans in the US.
The ODM leader leaves the country at a time when the party in engulfed in wrangles. Raila has however come out in defence of his party saying it has overcome the challenge that threatened its unity. He said he is confident that ODM will emerge stronger under the watch of its interim leaders.
