Khisa Metrine, 23, a Kenyan student at KIU, Kansanga Campus was the lucky winner who drove away in a brand new Duet after emerging number one in the Miss KIU (Kampala International University) beauty contests whose finale was held last night (Friday) at the campus.
Metrine, a student of Businesss Administration was crowned Miss KIU after accumulating the highest total number of points among all the contestants who showcased a number of Fashion styles.
On top of the grand prize of the brand new Toyota Duet, Metrine was offered a full year bursary from KIU.
The First Runner Up, Peter Emmanuela from South Sudan also won a one semester bursary from KIU.
Among the fashion styles that were showcased was Creative, Traditional, Dinner and office wear. On top of that, the contestants also showcased their talents by engaging in various outdoor activities.
While receiving the keys for the vehicle from the Ugandan Ambassador to Thailand Nakiwala Kiyingi who was also the Chief Guest at the event, Metrine broke down to tears and thanked God for helping her emerge the winner out of the many.
While officiating the Function, Nakiwala Kiyingi promised to continue supporting the youth in promoting their talents.
“We are in negotiations with the Government of Thailand to allow Ugandan youth that are talented in modeling to participate in the annual fashion gala held in Thailand”
Nakiwala further called upon all the other participants not to lose hope just because they have not won the contest and advised that they work hard to promote their talents since the future is bright for people who take art seriously.
