Kabogo: I Did not Snub Deputy Presidents Function

Kiambu governor William Kabogo has said he did not snub a function presided over Deputy President William Ruto in Thika.

Speaking in Gatundu during the opening of a modern bus park at the weekend, the county chief said he got the invitation on short notice.

Mr Kabogo, accompanied by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, was officially opening the new Sh 167 million bus stage which is a joint venture by the national and Kiambu county governments and will accommodate more than 200 matatus.

โ€œPeople should not read malice in my absence at the DPโ€™s meeting. I would have wanted to join him, but could not fail to attend the Gatundu event which we had planned and postponed several times,โ€ Kabogo said.

POLITICAL NEMESIS

The Deputy President was in Thika Town constituency on Friday to commission various projects initiated by area MP Alice Ngโ€™angโ€™a who is the governorโ€™s political nemesis.

Mr Kabogo made an appeal to members of parliament from the region to end political feuding and work with the county leadership towards uplifting the lives of Kiambu residents.

Earlier, the governor said he does not mind if people do not refer to him as โ€œHis excellencyโ€ and criticized Parliament for wasting time debating on trivialities like who is more superior to the other.

โ€œI donโ€™t care what name my people call me so long as I work for them. It is shameful that MPs cannot address more pressing issues facing Kenyans such as famine in arid areas, education and the state of the economy,โ€ Mr. Kabogo said.
