With gender roles being in dire conflict because of various reasons , gender violence becomes a personal issue. There have been so many cases reported by media or online forum discussions or through grapevines or know someone going through some turbulent.
The purpose of the survey is to find out to what extend gender violence is an issue and what are the systematic barriers. In Diaspora many immigrant communities we don’t open up. In other words it’s a no discussion topic because we fear community stigma. The fundamentals of our culture are being eroded because we live in new environments where laws and immigrant cultural norm are constantly clashing. Women want more say in household’s management because of economic status, competition, and multi-tasking and this changes the conversation. However, Men are more inclined to stick to cultural or traditional agendas or male masculinity, but the new female femininity is comfortably adapting and navigating to the new mix of empowerment with satisfaction. The gender roles are in dire conflict and gender violence becomes a personal issue.There have been so many cases reported by media or online forum discussions or through grapevines or know someone going through some turbulent .It’s time the immigrant society stop pretending or turning a deaf ear that violence against women or man is not in existence, and apprehends, and charge penetrators in regardless of their social or gender status.
Global Fatherhood Foundation and partners will use the data to step up the fight , educate and a have conversation and raise awareness about violence against women or men and discuss solutions that could work for the community through a community forum discussion.
