Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko has directed that suspended Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu be charged with obstructing investigations into fraudulent transactions in her ministry.
According to the DPP, Mrs Ngilu allegedly hindered the collection of evidence regarding fraudulent transactions in the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development.
The CS allegedly directed officers in the ministry not to release documents to investigators from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
It is also alleged that she further directed the same officials not to record statements with EACC investigators.
In a statement, Mr Tobiko said that the recommendation by EACC to charge Mrs Ngilu with the said offence was sustainable.
โHaving reviewed the evidence, I am satisfied that the recommended charge is sustainable.
โI have therefore accepted (the) EACCโs recommendation that the CS be charged with the offence of obstruction,โ said the DPP.
