The street boy who captured Kenyans’ hearts with his command of English has been invited to intern at the Supreme Court of Kenya during the school holidays.
The invitation was extended by Chief Justice Willy Mutunga who met with Maurice Mwenda at his office in Nairobi on Monday.
A few days ago, Mwenda had expressed an interest in becoming a lawyer even as his situation looked dire. All he was hoping for was an opportunity to become one.
Chief Justice Mutunga got wind of his desires and decided to surprise Mwenda. He called the Homeless of Nairobi and requested a meeting with the young man.
During their meeting on Monday, they touched on corruption in the system leading to a society that has more homeless people than it should. They also touched on spoke of alternative means to helping the homeless and just society in general.
It is safe to say, the young man did not see this coming…and neither did we. Good luck to the young man and hopefully he can now take advantage of the opportunities coming along his way.
