President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday morning met MPs affiliated to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka at State House, Nairobi.
The move is seen as way to sweet-talk the leaders to support the Jubilee coalition before the 2017 general elections.
The meeting discussed the need to tarmac the Kibwezi-Kitui-Mwingi road.
Machakos senator and Cord alliance chief whip in the senate, Johnstone Muthama denied the meeting was political.
“Those MPs met the president to discuss how to tarmac the Kibwezi-Kitui-Mwingi road after we threatened to hold a major protest, nothing political,” Muthama told the Star on phone on Thursday
The leaders were led by Senator and Wiper chairman David Musila and national assembly minority leader, Francis Nyenze.
All MPs from Kitui except one who is away to South Africa attended the meeting.
They requested the President to visit the region as soon as possible.
Also in attendance was Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary James Macharia.
In September,2015, two Wiper MPs said they were kicked out of the partyโs retreat and nearly lynched for being โ Jubilee moles โ.
Kilome MP Regina Ndambuki and her nominated counterpart Bishop Robert Mutemi said they were nearly beaten by wiper party supporters after they were kicked out of the meeting.
