Morning Devotion‬: If I had some extra money, I’d give it to God”

Good Morning its a new day and God is good! some breakfast to get you going.

‪#‎MorningDevotion‬ STEWARDSHIP:Once, a man said, “If I had some extra money, I’d give it to God, but I have just enough to support myself and my family.” And the same man said, “If I had some extra time, I’d give it to God, but every minute is taken up with my job, my family, my clubs, and what have you–every single minute.”

And the same man said, “If I had a talent I’d give it to God, but I have no lovely voice; I have no special skill; I’ve never been able to lead a group; I can’t think cleverly or quickly, the way I would like to.”

And God was touched, and although it was unlike him, God gave that man money, time, and a glorious talent. And then He waited, and waited, and waited…..And then after a while, He shrugged His shoulders, and He took all those things right back from the man, the money, the time and the glorious talent.

After a while, the man sighed and said, “If I only had some of that money back, I’d give it to God. If I only had some of that time, I’d give it to God. If I could only rediscover that glorious talent, I’d give it to God.”
And God said, “Oh, shut up.”

And the man told some of his friends, “You know, I’m not so sure that I believe in God anymore.”

Matthew 25:14-88 (New International Version)

14 “For it is just like a man who was about to take a journey, and he called his servants together and entrusted them with his possessions.15 To one he gave five [b]talents, to another, two, and to another, one, each according to his own ability; and then he went on his journey.

16 The one who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he [made a profit and] gained five more. 17 Likewise the one who had two [made a profit and] gained two more.

18 But the one who had received the one went and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.

There are several key lessons and observations we can make from this parable.

The first and most important is the each one got something from the master a cording to their ability. The master never starts off anyone with nothing.

We all have something to work with. We may not have much say on where or what we begin with but where we end up is up to us. It all depends on the kind of stewards we are with what we start off with.

It is also important to note that we all begin at the same level because each is given according to their ability. God will not ask you to account for what he did not give you.

It’s interesting to note that the first two went out and invested they took a risk they interacted with others probably invested in others and they got a good return. They were not selfish they were not afraid to take a risk and they did not keep to themselves. The third guy was selfish. He thought only of himself he’s full of excuses and his life was governed by fear. He hid what he was given. It did not benefit him or any other person.

I also notice that the master did not tell them what to do. For the two to go out and invest to get a return tells me that they knew what their master expected of them.
The question you and I need to ask ourselves is do we know what the master has given us? Are we investing it like the first two or have we hidden it in the ground so that it neither benefits you or anyone else?
Everyday God gives us the opportunities to invest what he has given us.
Sometimes we waste time and opportunities focusing on the 5 that someone has been given complaining and comparing because we have been given 1.

We start coveting and in the process we neglect the 1 that we have and we do not invest it. Remember we all have been given each according to his ability but all of us have the opportunity to grow.
