Hate speech MPs united in joy after being released on bail

Eight Jubilee and Cord legislators charged with incitement to violence were on Friday released on bail after spending four days in police cells.

Senator Johnson Muthama and MPs Timothy Bosire, Aisha Jumwa, Junet Mohammed and Florence Mutua were each released on Sh1 million bond each or a cash bail of Sh 300,000.

Their Jubilee counterparts Moses Kuria and Ferdinand Waititu were both released on Sh 5 million bond or cash bail of Sh2 million each.

Kimani Ngunjiri was released on a Sh1 million shillings bondย or a cash bail of Sh 300,000.

The eight sang heartily together to โ€˜Paulo na Silaโ€˜ gospel song moments after their bonds had been read out byย Magistrate Daniel Ogembo.

The Magistrate said the offenses are extremely serious.

Lawyer John Khaminwa has appealed to court to withdraw all the cases facing the eight suspects so that the matter is settled amicably out of court.

Magistrate Ogembo said it will be up to the Director of Public Prosecution to determine such a request.
