KIAMBU, Kenya, Jul 31 โ Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has been fronted for the Nairobi gubernatorial race in the next polls by a section of Mount Kenya Members of Parliament.
They are Kabete MP Ferdinard Waititu, Kieni MP Kanini Keega, Kiambu Town MP Jude Jomo and Tigania East MP Mpuri Aburi.
Speaking after attending a church service at the Kiambu St Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Keega said Wamalwa was the best candidate for the job.
โAs the MP for Kieni and this is shared across the Mount Kenya Region, we need the Governorโs seat in Nairobi to be Jubileeโs and Eugene Wamalwa is the most qualified candidate for that seat,โ he submitted.
Aburi echoed his sentiments: โNairobi needs a leader without divisive politics. It needs someone who does not operate along the line of tribes. Hence Wamalwa is the best candidate.โ
Wamalwa who was also present at the service, said he was honoured by the endorsement but was, โat the moment,โ concentrating on his Water and Irrigation docket.
โThe gubernatorial seat currently has an occupant โ Dr Evans Kidero โ and I am still working on ensuring Nairobi and its environs have enough water. When the time comes however, we will be making an announcement. โ
Others that have expressed interest in the seat Kidero will be defending include Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru, nominated MP and TNA Chairman Johnson Sakaja and former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru.
