A government officer has been accused of brutally beating and injuring a driver for disobeying his wife.
Joseph Kang’ethe, the Kiambu County Director of Enforcement, is said to have attacked Geoffrey Muhia on Kiambu-Ruiru road for refusing to follow orders from his (Kang’ethe) wife.
Mr Muhia, who is a driver of the county government, said he had ferried goods to Mr Kang’ethe’s home in Thindigua when the wife ordered him to carry the belongings inside the house.
The driver, however, declined to obey the order claiming that taking the goods into the house was not part of his duties.
“She ordered me to carry the bag of potatoes, but I refused because it is not part of my job,” Muhia was quoted by the Star.
Muhia said the county official attacked and even threatened to kill him. He later sought for medication at Kiambu Hospital with medical reports proving he had a swollen eye and broken jaw.
Kiambu deputy police boss Johnstone Lyambila confirmed that the incident had been recorded and a P3 form issued to the driver. The police boss could however not divulge more details of the case.
On his part, Kang’ethe dismissed the allegations terming them “baseless and malicious”.
