Kidero files complaint against Junet

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has filed a complaint against Suna East MP Junet Mohamed over claims that ‘Kidero will not be the next Nairobi governor’.

Kidero claimed Junet made the utterances on September 5 at Trattoria Restaurant, on Kaunda Street, Nairobi.

“Hon Mohamed, made statements that have left me gravely concerned with the lack of integrity in the manner in which issues concerning our party (ODM) are handled,” he said.

Kidero said the utterances were made in the company of a lawyer aligned to Jubilee coalition and a Nairobi county executive member.

“I am a senior member of the party and it is quite sad that such a serious party matter concerning me could be discussed in such a casual and careless manner,” he said

In a letter dated September 7, and addressed to ODM secretary general Agnes Zani, Kidero claimed Junet swore he (Kidero) was not the best candidate .

โ€œHon Mohamed loudly swore to those who were seated with him and within the hearing of the entire restaurant that, I will not be a candidate since the party has already decided to deny me the party ticket,โ€ Kidero said.

Noting that Junet’s behaviour is “careless in the extreme”, Kidero said the MP’s continued stay as Director of Campaigns in ODM would only be harmful to the party.

“It does not inspire confidence in his integrity and fairness at all,” Kidero said in the letter copied to ODM party leader Raila Odinga and chairman John Mbadi.

“I ask that the party take this matter with a view to reassuring me and other members that the outcomes of the party nominations for governors and other elective positions have not been predetermined.”

Junet was not immediately available for comment.

Kidero intends to defend his seat against several contestants including Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, nominated MP Johnson Sakaja and Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru.

In 2013, Kidero got 692,483 votes against Waitituโ€™s 617,839 votes. Sonko who vied for the Senatorโ€™s post got 808,705 votes beating Wanjiru who garnered 525,822 votes
