Nominated MCA Mohamed Abdi has claimed that Governor Evans Kidero hosted Cord leader Raila Odinga due to his impending impeachment by the ward reps.
Raila paid a courtesy call on Kidero at City Hall on Friday.
“The governor now wants Raila to rein in on Cord MCAs to drop the motion. He is desperate because he knows already the threshold has been reached to impeach him,” Abdi said.
The Jubilee MCA said Kidero has failed the city residents, citing the hawkers’ menace, never-ending traffic jams and poor roads.
He said traders in Eastleigh have lost millions of shillings in the last three days after they closed their businesses protesting invasion by hawkers.
Abdi’s remarks come after it emerged on Wednesday that a draft motion to impeach the governor is currently underway.
Viwandani MCA Sam Nyang’wara has so far collected 65 signatures.
“We are past the threshold because according our standing orders, only a third or 43 members signatures are required to initiate the process,” Nyang’wara of ODM said.
Nyang’wara said Kidero has violated the Constitution, is incompetent and lacks leadership qualities.
He said he will move the motion when the members come resume session from recess on September 20
