This brings to an end a month-long saga surrounding Mr Mutua and his ownership of the document, which is a preserve of high end government officials.
It all started when Mr Mutua flaunted his diplomatic passport and an American Visa on Facebook his strong stand against homosexuality notwithstanding.
He would later upload a photo of himself flying First Class to San Francisco in California to attend a global conference.
His action caused public outcry on social media that compelled the immigration authorities to state that the he doesn’t qualify to hold a diplomatic passport and hence he should surrender it.
