Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero yesterday endorsed President Uhuru Kenyatta for a second term in office, albeit mistakenly.
Kidero was speaking during the official opening of the 2016ย Nairobi International Trade Fair. He was in the process of thanking the president for gracing the occasion every year, listing the years 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and then proceeding to state that he is โdefinite and confidentโ that he will be there in 2017.
If things remain as they are, Kenyans will go to the ballot on August 8, 2017, a whole two months before next yearโs trade fair. So, weโll either have a new president orย Uhuruย will be serving his second term.
Unless Kidero knows something we donโt about the election date, he may have just โendorsedโ Uhuru.
Even the President was glad for the vote of confidence, expressing hope that Kideroโs prayer will be answered.
It did not however take long for Kidero to log into Twitter and clarify.
