Nominated MP Godfrey Ososti has laughed off Musalia Mudavadi’s plan to discipline “rebel” Amani National Congress MPs.

He said the move is a political gimmick for his party leader to escape the shame of no-show at Nasa leader Raila Odinga’s oath.

The legislator on Thursday asked Mudavadi “to face reality that he erred in missing the function and has lost popularity.”

“Those are empty threats. All they are now trying is to divert the attention from the agitation of their supporters,” the MP said.

Ososti said Nasa supporters are not about to forget what happened on January 30 when Mudavadi (ANC), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya) did not show up for the ceremony.

He noted “all fake explanations” by the three co-principals have been rejected.

Osotsiย and Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala are considered rebels within ANC ranks.

On Tuesday,ย Mudavadi constituted a disciplinary committee to issue a verdict on the leaders’ conduct.

The team was formed after the party’s joint meeting of the National Executive Council and the Parliamentary Group.

Deputy party leader Kipruto Kirwa will is the chair whileย members are MPs Ayub Savula (Lugari), Kassim Tandaza (Matuga), Beatrice Adagala (Vihiga county), Sakwa Bunyasi (Nambale), Abdi Yare Mohamed (ANC vice chairman) and Mudavadi’s aide Dan Ameyo.

Ososti said the team has no capacity to discipline him and Malala.

“There is already a pending case at the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal that was questioning the validity of the ANC National Executive Council,”ย he told The Star on phone.ย “That is purely child’s play. Let them stop wasting time.”

The MP also called for the re-branding of the Opposition coalition through replacement of its top leaders with young turks.

“For Nasa to be redeemed, it needs to start from square one, with new ideas, leadership and new strategies,” Osotsi said.

The MP said there is evidence that the coalition has flopped so it must embark on countering Jubilee Party in 2022 on a clean slate.

He cited the case of Benson Momanyi’s nomination to the PSC, saying it is sign Kalonzo’s party has “jumped to bed with Jubilee”.
