Details of Ken Okoth’s Family’s Secret Meeting With ODM Boss: The family of the late Kibra MP, Ken Okoth, has revealed its next course of action after a closed-door meeting with ODM Chairman John Mbadi and Kasipul MP Eva Obara.
Speaking to journalists after the intense discourse, Mbadi, who is also the MP for Suba South, revealed that the family had decided not to bury a banana trunk as prescribed by the Luo culture.
Instead, they will organise a prayer service for the deceased legislator.
โWeโve held an indoor meeting with Angelina and her family members and agreed that nothing will be buried in this home instead of Okothโs body,โ stated Mbadi.
The ODM boss further stated that the family had agreed to resolve issues which cropped up following theย cremation of the lawmaker’sย body on Saturday.
โThe family members have also agreed to bury the hatchet following differences which occurred after Okothโs death,โ he added.
Mbadi went on to add that although cultural practices must be upheld, the familyย also needs to accept the fact that times have changed.
Speaking to journalists on Saturday, Okoth’sย maternal nephew,ย Elvis Oluoch, stated that the family hadย resorted to burying a banana stem in line with the culture of the Luo community.
โKen Okothโs mother will travel to Kabondo later today (Saturday, August 3). Tomorrow (Sunday, August 4), she is expected to dig a grave and bury a banana stem in Kabondo Kasipul.
That would symbolise that she buried someone she loved dearly,โ heย painfully stated.
