Doubts and speculations After Waiguru Skips Uhuru’s Meeting
Governor Anne Waiguru’s decision to skip Presidentย Uhuru Kenyatta’s meetingย at Saganaย State Lodge in Nyeri on Friday, November 15, raised doubts and speculations about her whereabouts.
A source who attended the president’s gathering toldย Kenyans.co.keย thatย Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru wasย notablyย missing, despite being one of the powerful leaders in Mt Kenya.
The governor has been a closeย confidant of Kenyatta ever since they worked together at the Ministry of Finance.
“I have no comment on that,” Kirinyaga Communication Director,ย Angela Wangeciย responded to Kenyans.co.ke.
The governor’s reason for skipping the event further remained undisclosed as his compatriots played coy with his whereabouts.
“I can’t comment on that too. Please try andย reach out to her and find out why she was not there,”ย Moses Kuria, Gatundu South MP stated.
Kandara MP Alice Wahome also missed the event. However, she revealed that she was grieving the death of her brother.
Waiguru has been at the forefront of defending President Uhuru Kenyatta fromย attacks by politicians.ย While launching development projects in Kirinyaga on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, Waiguru defended BBI andย likened Kenyatta toย a motherย who was to be protected from assaultย by angry visitors.
“There is no other leader in Mt Kenya other than Kenyatta. He is like our mother. We should love and protect him. Can someone raid your home and ask youย to beat your mother?” Waiguru wondered.
“My understanding is that Mt Kenya leaders should calm down and relax. We have not yet read the contents of the BBI. You cannot attack what you don’t know yet. Let’s wait for it to be released. As politicians, let us focus on developing our regions and we shall engage in politics when the time comes,” she warned.
