Lawyer Miguna Miguna has received a new passport which he said followed a directive by President William Ruto. He said that he is waiting for the red alerts to be lifted so that he can travel back to the country.
“1687 days after Uhuru Kenyatta,ย Raila Odinga, Fred Matiang’i,ย Karanja kibichoย andย G Kihalangwaย conspired to illegally seize and destroy my Kenyan Passport, Presidentย William Rutoย has had a new one delivered to me. Waiting for the lifting of red alerts,” he said.
Miguna was first deported on February 26, 2018.
He was to return to the country in November 2021 but he could not due to the red alerts.
He moved to court seeking to have the alerts removed but his case was invalidated.
Miguna had earlier demanded to be facilitated to return to the country to attend the inauguration ceremony for President William Ruto.
In a letter dated September 7, Miguna through his lawyer Adrian Kamotho, wrote to theย Assumption of the Office of the President Committee chairpersonย Joseph Kinyua, saying it would be against the Constitution to carry on with their business, without any reasonable regard for his plight in exile.

“Thus, your Committee has an overarching duty and legal obligation to ensure that our client is facilitated to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the 5th president, His Excellency William Samoei Ruto without fail,” the letter read.
Miguna drummed up support for Ruto during the campaigns.
