Jedidah Mwendwa’s journey to the United States is a story of courage, preparation, and gratitude. She is set to pursue a Master’s in Business Analytics at the University of South Dakota after graduating in 2024. Her path toward international study began when her uncle introduced her to the International Scholars Program, setting in motion a focused and determined application process.
Jedidah officially joined ISP on August 15, 2025. By November 5, 2025, she had secured her U.S. visa. She views this achievement as both a blessing and a reward for persistence. Though the process came with moments of uncertainty, she remained committed and prayerful throughout.
Her visa interview, in particular, tested her composure. The Visa Officer pressed her firmly on why she had chosen the University of South Dakota. She was required to respond with clarity and confidence. As the interview continued, she addressed questions about her graduation timeline, program choice, funding plan, and future intentions, including Optional Practical Training. Despite the initial pressure, she navigated the conversation successfully and received her approval.
Jedidah credits her family’s emotional and financial support as a cornerstone of her success. As departure day approaches, she feels a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation. This is especially true as it will be her first time traveling abroad. Her flight departs at 11:55 p.m., with a layover in Germany before entering the U.S. through Denver.
Reflecting on her experience, she appreciates the structured guidance and preparation she received.
