It is with deep sorrow that the family and friends announce the promotion to glory of Emily Wairimu Maina, a member of the Kenyan diaspora living in Salem, Oregon, USA, who passed away on February 27, 2026.
Emily Wairimu Maina was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and cherished member of the Kenyan community both in the United States and Kenya.
She was the loving mother of Morris Kariuki Maina of North Carolina.
Emily was the daughter of Barnabas Kariuki Waithaka (D-9) of PCEA Neema Church Lowell and Grace Wambui Kariuki.
She was the sister of Faith Waithaka (D-10), Tabitha Waithaka (D-6), and Nixon Waithaka, all of Boston, Massachusetts, and Paul Kamau of Kenya.
She was also a niece to Rev. Wanyoike (KCIC), Beatrice Riunge, Catherine Njeri of Seattle, and Rachel Warigia of Boston.
Emily was a cousin to Oliver Mbiyo (New Hampshire), Wellington Waithaka (Alabama), Wellington Waithaka (Seattle), and Emily Ngubia (Seattle), among many other relatives and friends within the Kenyan diaspora community.
Her passing has deeply touched the Kenyan community across the United States and Kenya.
Prayer and Fellowship Meetings
Family, friends, and members of the Kenyan diaspora are invited to join daily fellowship and “Macakaya” prayer meetings as the family prepares for funeral arrangements.
