Lukas Otoo Yugi passed away on April 3, 2026, at the age of 63, at Memorial Regional Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. He was surrounded by family both physically and virtually during his final moments. This was a testament to the love and unity that defined his life.
Lukas was the loving husband of Rose Otoo and a devoted father to his children. He was also a cherished uncle to Marlene Jones of Richmond, Virginia. In addition, he was a respected member of the wider diaspora community.
His passing follows a courageous but painful battle with advanced pancreatic cancer. He was diagnosed on February 6, 2026, after experiencing severe abdominal pain. Despite medical efforts, his condition worsened, and he was hospitalized on March 18 due to tumor-related fever. From that time, he endured significant pain until his passing.
Lukas was a man of deep faith and worshipped at El-Shaddai International Ministries alongside Pastor Hezron Njoroge and Apostle Eunice Mukuria. His spiritual devotion and commitment to fellowship left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
As news of his passing spreads, family and friends are coming together to honor his life and begin arrangements for his final journey home. As a result, a meeting to coordinate repatriation efforts will be held in Richmond starting April 4 at 6:00 PM.
