Jackline Motari’s journey from Makina village in Kibera, Kenya to pursuing a Master of Business Administration at Quinnipiac University in the United States of America is a powerful story of resilience, vision, and transformation.

Raised in a vibrant but challenging environment, she grew up navigating realities such as flooding, poor sanitation, and limited resources. Yet within these conditions, a sense of purpose began to take shape. Her early experiences inspired a deep desire to one day create solutions that would improve living conditions in communities like her own.

Her academic path took her from Olympic Primary School in Kibera to Nyabururu Girls High School, and later to Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. There, she pursued a degree in Water and Environmental Management. After graduating, she faced the uncertainty that many young graduates encounter. However, she remained determined to find her path.

A turning point came when she learned about the International Scholars Program through a friend. What began as skepticism quickly turned into action, leading her to commit to the process and pursue her dream of studying abroad.

With structured guidance and consistent effort, she navigated applications, secured admission, and obtained financing. Despite initial setbacks in university applications and a delayed visa approval, she remained patient and focused.

Now in the United States, she is gaining the business and leadership skills needed to one day launch an environmental initiative back home.

Jackline’s story is a testament that no matter where you begin, with purpose, persistence, and support, your dreams can transcend borders.
