It is with profound sadness and heartfelt acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Mr. Peter Wathoko Kumuru, who went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
Peter had recently relocated from Kenya to Vancouver, Washington, USA, only a few months ago, as he began a new chapter of life with his family.
He was a beloved brother to Leah Karanja of Georgia, USA. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Margaret Wathoko, his loving children, Nyokabi Wathoko and Kumuru Wathoko, as well as two cherished grandchildren.
Peter will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, humility, and quiet strength. His love for family and his gentle spirit touched the lives of many, and his passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
As Peter was still very new to the United States, his local support network was limited. The family humbly invites friends, members of the Kenyan community, and well-wishers to stand with them during this difficult time through prayers, words of encouragement, and financial support.

Tribute to Peter Wathoko Kumuru
With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Peter Wathoko Kumuru, a man whose life was defined by kindness, humility, and unwavering love for his family. Though his journey on earth has come to an end, the legacy he leaves behind will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Peter was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, a caring brother, and a loyal friend. His quiet strength, gentle spirit, and warm smile brought comfort to many. He possessed a rare ability to make people feel valued and welcomed, leaving lasting impressions wherever he went.
Only a few months ago, Peter embarked on a new chapter by relocating from Kenya to the United States with hopes for a brighter future. While his time in America was brief, his faith, courage, and resilience shone brightly throughout this transition. Although his dreams were unexpectedly cut short, the love he shared and the memories he created will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
To his beloved wife, Margaret Wathoko, his children Nyokabi Wathoko and Kumuru Wathoko, his grandchildren, his sister Leah Karanja, and the entire extended family, may you find strength and comfort in God’s unfailing promises. May you be surrounded by His peace and by the love of family, friends, and the Kenyan community during this difficult season.
Peter’s life reminds us that true greatness is not measured by wealth or status, but by the love we give, the lives we touch, and the kindness we show to others.
Though we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life well lived—a life marked by compassion, dignity, and faith.
Rest in eternal peace, Peter Wathoko Kumuru.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
