Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua has said that she is still active in politics.
Ms Karua said this Thursday when she attended the funeral service of former MP James Kibicho.
She told mourners at the service that she was not yet out of politics and that her quest for Kenya’s presidency was unstoppable.
Ms Karua said though she had failed to capture presidency in the 2013 elections she had not lost hope.
“I have not given up my presidential ambition,” she told mourners at Kabonge Anglican Church in Kirinyaga County.
Ms Karua said she was preparing for a major comeback in politics adding that she was a seasoned politician.
“I was elected for four terms as a Member of Parliament for Gichugu constituency. When you fail only once, you can’t give up,” she said.
The former lawmaker criticised the Jubilee government saying it had refused to listen to Kenyans.
REFERENDUM PUSH
She explained that she had joined the push for a referendum because the government had refused to engage Kenyans in a dialogue to discuss insecurity and other problems facing the country.
Ms Karua accused the government of trying to drag Kenyans back to the dark days of the Kanu dictatorship.
“We have refused to be dictated to. We can’t return back to the single party system of government,” she said.
Ms Karua eulogised Mr Kibicho as an honest and principled leader who was, prior to his demise, the local Narc Kenya treasurer.
“He was not corrupt and stood by his words,” she said and asked other leaders to emulate him.
Kirinyaga Governor Joseph Ndathi steered clear of politics and concentrated on eulogising Mr Kibicho.
Mr Ndathi said he knew Mr Kibicho as vocal politician and a competent lawyer.
The county boss told mourners that Mr Kibicho was his admirable competitor in the last polls.
“When I defeated Mr Kibicho he conceded defeat and he continued supporting my government,” he said.
A Jubilee activist Mureithi Kang’ara told mourners that he was opposed to the referendum.
He caused laughter when he said those pushing for a referendum were political losers who failed to capture power in the last elections and they would not succeed.
“Those who have Joined Cord in the push for a referendum are losers and are fighting a losing battle,” he said.
