A Kenyan man Andrew Ndungu Muchai passes away in Baltimore MD

The cruel hand of death has robbed Kenyans in Baltimore another young person in the name of Andrew Ndungu Muchai Who was 25 years old. This is another death coming too soon. Andrew had a surgical operation on Thursday 22, 2009, was discharged from hospital the following day, Friday Oct. 23, and died on Saturday night Oct 24^th.

According to his family in Baltimore, he was having sleeping problems and ended having a tonsillectomy which went well and was discharged from hospital the following day. He spent the day on Saturday with a friend and he was okay. In the evening, the friend went to buy him some fast food but upon return, he appeared unresponsive. The friend and neighbor called 911 and he was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Andrew was the son of Mr. Jared Muchai Ndungu and Ms. Virginia Makumi (Mama Makumi); brother of Christine Wacheke Muchai, Daniel Makumi Muchai all of Baltimore Maryland, and Eddah Wangui of Mombasa Kenya.

Friends and relatives are meeting daily @7pm at 6404 Laurelton Ave. Baltimore, MD, 21214.The family needs prayers and financial assistance to offset funeral expenses.

The late George Onyango Olang (1966 – 2009)

Our brother George Onyango went to be with the Lord on Saturday August 29th 2009 surrounded by his family, close friends and pastors at the Loma Linda Hospital in Southern California. George was preceded to eternal glory by his wife, Beatrice Onyango who went to be with the Lord in 2006. He is survived by his two children, Abraham Onyango, 14 and David Onyango, 11.
A facebook page has been created by the George Onyango funeral committee to help disseminate information to friends and well wishers in the US, Kenya and all over the world. Plans of laying our brother’s body to rest are right now at an early stage but will be updating you with new information as it comes in so please make sure to log in on a regular basis.
For those living in Southern California, there will be a prayer meeting, fellowship and support at Dr. & Mrs. Masinde’s residence located at 34467 Yale Dr. Yucaipa, CA 92399. We are strong in the midst of this tragedy because we know our brother is now at a safe place free from pain and worry. We bear his testimony he was born again and actively involved at KICC church where he was serving as a church council member and secretary of the church constitution committee. Teens plead not guilty in near-fatal beating of Kenyan caretaker

Two teenagers charged with using a steam iron and wooden closet pole to severely beat their caretaker at a Yucaipa group home pleaded not guilty Wednesday morning.
Carlos Dubose, 17, of Oakland, and Davion Whitmore, 16, of Long Beach, were arraigned in San Bernardino Superior Court on charges of attempted murder, carjacking, second-degree robbery and evading an officer with willful disregard.
They also face a special allegation for inflicting great bodily harm, according to a criminal complaint. Both juveniles have been charged as adults.
Carlos and Davion are being held at San Bernardino Juvenile Hall and are scheduled to return to court Sept. 3 for a pre-preliminary hearing. A judge set their bail at $750,000.
Authorities said the teens attacked 43-year-old George Onyango late Saturday after one of them was denied a pass to leave the Aiming High Treatment Center on Fifth Place. The privately-owned group home is not a lockdown facility.
Sheriff’s deputies, who were called to the home by another probationer who lived there, found Onyango unconscious and bound in a bedroom closet. The teens allegedly stole money and clothing before escaping in the caretaker’s Honda.
A California Highway Patrol officer, who was unaware that the teens were wanted for attempted murder, tried to pull them over for a lane change violation. An 120 mph chase into Fontana commenced before Carlos and Davion exited the 10 Freeway at Sierra Avenue and crashed into a center median.
Onyango remains in critical condition on life support. He is suffering from severe brain damage and paralysis, officials said.
Since the teen probationers were being held in a private group home, the Probation Department does not have information on them.
Spokeswoman Susanne Pastuschek said Alameda County contacted them in July to advise that Carlos would be residing at the Yucaipa group home. Detectives say Davion is a documented Long Beach gang member.

Kenyan Man Dies in Worcester, MA

A 38 year old man in Worcester has died. Mr. David Muhia who lives in Worcester, MA and hails from Kiambu, Kenya died on Tuesday into Wednesday morning.

According to reliable sources in Worcester, Mr. Muhia developed a blood clot after an injury in one of his arm. He sought medical help and was put on Coumadin (A drug that helps in dissolving a clot, namely blood thinner). Friends believe he has been on this drug for over a year now.

On this particular night, our source reveals, he felt sick and very dizzy in the middle of the night. He was alone in his apartment, as he is unmarried. He called 911 when he felt like it was getting worse and was unable to get out of bed. He actually told the 911 dispatcher that they would even break in as he was so sick to get out of bed. The ambulance arrived shortly after 4.00am in the morning on Wednesday. The EMT staff tried all they could but it was too late, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the St Vincent Hospital where he was taken.

Mr. Muhia has no known close relatives in the USA. Friends are meeting daily at the Compassionate Gospel Church on 70 James Street Suite 139B from 6.00 pm for prayers and arrangement to transport the body to Kenya. A condolences book and a funding raising book have been opened and one can find it at Safari Cafe on Chandler Street, Worcester, MA.

A major prayer has been scheduled for Wednesday July 1^st 2009 at the same venue, 70 James Street suite 139B starting at 6.00pm.

The main harambee/ fundraising has been tentatively been scheduled for Sunday July 5^th 2009 at the same aforesaid venue.

A Kenyan Dies in his sleep in Baltimore.‏

Baltimore is mourning again after the death of Reuben Muchene Njuguna of Rosedale, Baltimore MD (USA) who died in his sleep. According to his cousin John Muthiora, Reuben was a nurse and worked at night and usually sleept during the day. Yesterday morning Tuesday the 17^th March, he came back from work in the morning and talked for a while with his aunt Salome Wanjiku (Nyina wa Nyambura) whom he was staying with. He went to bed at 9.00 AM and around 5.00PM, His alarm went off and rang for a while that the Aunt went to check why he was not waking up. When she tried waking him up, he did not respond and it is then that she sensed danger and decided to call 911 who came and confirmed that he was dead for several hours. The cause of his death is not known for now and they are awaiting for the medical examiner to inform them once they are done with their part.

Reuben Muchene was a dear friend to Zipporah “zippy”Wangari mwangi, a loving father to Joshua Gitau Muchene 1.5 yr old all of Baltimore MD. He is a dear son to Mr. Stephen Gitau Njuguna and Mrs. Ruth Nduta, brother to Johnston Muthiora, and William Njuguna all of Seattle Washington (USA). He is a cousin to John Muthiora (Virginia USA), Mumbi Hinga, Jeannette both of Seattle Washington, William Njuguna (Atlanta) Damaris Njuguna (Texas) and many more. He is a nephew to Salome Wanjiku (Virginia), Njeri Njuguna, Wairimu, Peter Muchene Njuguna all of Seattle and many more.

Family and friends are meeting Daily at 6 pm for prayers and funeral arrangements at the following locations.

Kenyan student dies in India

SALEM: A Kenyan girl student, studying in a private medical college in India, died in a private hospital on Sunday after she reportedly fell sick suddenly in her house.

Police said that Evelyn Mumbi Karumba (23) from Kenya, who was studying 5th year medicine in the college, stayed with her friends at a house in Alagapuram colony.

It is said that on Saturday night she developed nausea and started vomiting blood.

The Kenyan High Commission was informed, which in turn conveyed the news of the death to the girl’s parents.

Kalembe Ndile TV row over Obama

A Kenyan ex-minister has given a TV to officials going to the US for Barack Obama’s inauguration, saying they should watch the ceremony at home.

Kalembe Ndile said the trip was a waste of taxpayers’ money, especially as the delegation has not been invited and so would watch it from their hotel rooms.

The row comes as Kenya’s President Mwai Kibaki asks for international assistance to cope with food shortages.

Mr Obama’s father was Kenyan and the country takes great pride in him.

A public holiday was declared when he was elected US president last November.

Kenya’s Daily Nation newspaper reports that officials refused to let Mr Ndile into the foreign affairs ministry, so he left the 21-inch TV outside the front door.

The US ambassador to Kenya has said that only accredited diplomats in Washington will be invited to represent their countries at the swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday.

But Foreign Minister Moses Wetang’ula is still leading a sizeable official delegation.

‘Shadow’

They will attend a party on the eve of the inauguration, not the main event, the Daily Nation says.

As well as the officials, some of Mr Obama’s Kenyan relatives are also going travelling to attend the ceremonies.

The BBC’s Caroline Karobia in the capital, Nairobi, says they have refused to say whether they are attending the main inauguration.

Kenya’s President Mwai Kibaki on Friday appealed for some $400m to help feed 10 million people – more than a quarter of the population.

Last week, he said he was declaring a national emergency because of the food shortages.

Officials have since denied accusations that corruption in the agriculture ministry were behind the lack of maize.

Our correspondent says former Assistant Minister of Tourism Mr Ndile is known to court publicity.

In 2007, he was one of 30 assistant ministers who said they did not have enough work to do.

“I’m treated like a shadow and only learn of issues in my ministry through the press,” he said at the time.
