Prayer and Financial Support For Charles Maina Ngare
The family of Charles Maina Ngare, a long time Kenyan Educator, who taught Math at Chinga Boys’ Sec School, Moi Nairobi Girls’, and as a senior lecturer at Kenya Technical Teachers’ College (KTTC), wishes to announce that he is battling a very rare medical condition: Multi-centric Castleman’s Disease – a rare non-hodgkins lymphoma.
Charles had been unwell since the beginning of the year. He was hospitalized on April 2, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Hospital and was transferred on April 9 to Hershey Medical Center PA, for 11 weeks where he underwent various biopsies – bone marrow, Axially lymph node, kidney, liver, Ulcer; then Axillary Aspirate, LF and Burhole into the subdural bleed.
At present, he is at Manor care, MD for rehabilitation, under the care of Dr. Catherine Broome, MD Specialties Hematology/Oncology-Georgetown University Hospital.
His current diagnosis (18 in number) include: Liver fibrosis, Acute on Chronic Renal failure, Bilateral Subdural hematoma, Perivascular dermatitis, Axillary Pseudocyst, Hyperlipidemia, DM-Type 2, Chronic Renal Insufficiency, Third Cranial Nerve palsy, Hypertension, … and the list goes on. These diagnosis’s call for back-to-back on doctor’s appointments, procedures and medication.

Stop speculations on Kamangu’s death-medic

Members of the public have been asked to stop speculations about the possible causes of James Kamangu Ndimu’s death and wait for postmortem results.
Kiambu District Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Patrick Amoth said it was suspected that Kamangu might have succumbed to liver failure.
Dr Amoth said Kamangu also complained of acute chest pains when he sought medical attention at the district hospital before being referred to Kenyatta National Hospital on Tuesday.
Immediately after his death, Kamangu’s family and admirers at his Gachie rural home raised suspicions that he could have been poisoned and called on the government to institute a probe on his death.
Kamangu’s younger brother David Gachie and sister Jane Nyanjega claimed that he had no history of ill health emphasizing that prior to his death, he was in good health ane was seen working on his farm.
However his wife Beatrice Nduta confirmed that Kamangu was a heavy drinker supporting the medics’ initial opinion that he could have been killed by alcohol related complications.
Nduta said that on Tuesday night her husband returned home drunk and declined to eat as he used to do whenever drunk.
Dr. Amoth confirmed that Kamangu had first visited Kihara health centre and was referred to Kiambu district hospital as he was vomiting blood and four hours later he was referred to Kenyatta hospital when his condition worsened.
On Thursday angry Kiambu residents attributed Kamang’us death to lack of facilities in the hospital and laxity by senior medical personnel.
“What is the need of having a district hospital which cannot rescue a dying man”, questioned Jane Nyambura.
Kamangu came to the limelight when he successfully blocked the marriage between flamboyant televangelist Margaret Wanjiru and her South African fiancé Rev. Samuel Matjeke two years ago maintaining that Wanjiru was his wife.
Kamangu gained instant stardom after he claimed to have married the now MP for Starehe Constituency in Nairobi and Housing Assistant Minister through a customary marriage in 1978 and that he was the father of her two sons.
However Wanjiru and her sons publicly denied Kamangu during a service at her Jesus is Alive Ministry Church.

Mr. Kamangu who rose to the limelight last year as he commanded the nation’s attention by claiming that one of the country’s leading female televangelists was his wife, is said to have been admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital on Tuesday evening where he passed on after suffering from a stomach ailment.
Mr. Kamangu was checked into Kenyatta hospital’s ward 8C at 4.25 pm local time on Tuesday after being referred there from Kiambu District Hospital.
He succumbed at 1.15 am local time on Wednesday morning.
The family says Mr. Kamangu died from a sudden illness though they did not divulge more details.
Mr. Kamangu rose to the limelight early last year after claiming Bishop Margaret Wanjiru now the housing assistant minister was his customary wife.
Mr. Kamangu claimed he married Wanjiru in 1979 and that he was the father of her two sons and that she later left him, taking the children with her.
Mr. Kamangu’s claims and the subsequent court case scuttled a proposed marriage between Wanjiru and a South African preacher Samuel Matjeke in February 2007.
The courts stepped in and blocked the wedding, saying the case had to be heard first.
Bishop Wanjiru and her sons denied him during a service at her Jesus is Alive Ministries Church, incensing Mr. Kamangu who even demanded for a DNA paternity test.
A gender lobby group maendeleo ya wanaume supported Mr. Kamangu, and offered to foot the legal proceedings.
The case is still pending in court.
Last year Mr. Kamangu is said to have married Beatrice Mbaire with whom he was living in his Gachie home.
He was 58.
