Controversy — ridden Makadara Member of Parliament Gideon Mbuvi, popularly known as Sonko has been expelled from the NARC-Kenya party and his Juja counterpart William Kabogo suspended for three months.
The party has cracked the whip on the perceived errant members owing to their support for the PNU Alliance. The two are accused of collaborating with presidential aspirant Uhuru Kenyatta, whereas NARC Kenya has its own presidential contender in party leader Martha Karua.

In 2011, NARC‑Kenya took disciplinary action against two sitting MPs:
Makadara MP Gidion “Sonko” Mbuvi was expelled from NARC‑Kenya for campaigning for a rival candidate—uhuru Kenyatta (PNU)—instead of NARC‑Kenya’s nominee, Brian Weke, in the Kamukunji by-election.
Juja MP William Kabogo received a three‑month suspension, required to write an apology within seven days
Notably, Sonko even stormed the NARC‑Kenya offices, confronting party leaders—reportedly including Martha Karua, who was NARC‑Kenya’s chairperson at the time—as part of the fallout.
