Ngilu switch allegiance from ODM to Uhuru, Ruto pact
Water Minister Charity Ngilu on Friday declared support for The National Alliance Party (TNA) presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta and United Republican Party (URP) leader William Ruto elections pact.
“A coalition with Uhuru and Ruto will form the next government,” she said.
While addressing supporters at Unoa grounds in Makueni County, Ngilu also ruled out a political alliance with Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.
“I know that people in Ukambani want me to unite with Kalonzo but it is not possible. I will only unite with people who have the interest of the common man at heart,” she said.
Mrs Ngilu said that despite VP Musyoka having served successive governments for 25 years, he had failed to solve chronic problems of poverty and food insecurity in Ukambani region.
Notably, she stated that if elected president, she would address food insecurity and ensure quality healthcare and free education for Kenyans.
She also said that she would eradicate poverty by empowering the women population.
