Video:Ruto’s stand on homosexuals, equate them to dogs in debate

Friday February 15,2013– Eldoret North MP William Ruto is currently  in deep trouble after the gay and lesbian community in Kenya reacted sharply to  remarks made by the Ruto who  referred to gays as “dogs” during the Vice President’s debate held at All Saints Cathedral on Thursday.

In a letter sent to Ruto by gay activist Dennis Nzioka, the community said they have given Ruto an ultimatum to apologise or else they will advise the over 2 million gays and lesbians in Kenya to withdraw their support from Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta.
“Dear Mr Uhuru Kenyatta, personally, I was a firm supporter of your candidature and portfolio but that has considerably changed since yesterday night when your running mate, Mr William Ruto equated homosexuals to dogs at the Deputy President’s debate,” Nzioka said.
Nzioka said in Kenya there are over 2 million gays and lesbians and it will be a big blow for Jubilee Coalition to lose a bloc vote of 2 million votes.
“There are 2,000,000 gay and lesbian Kenyans who, yesterday evening, decided not to vote for your candidature on account of what Mr Ruto said,” Nzioka added
He said he had reported the matter to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) for action, urging Ruto to apologise to the gay community or face dire consequences on March 4th.
‘You have until March 3rd to do so. If you do not, you might as well say bye to 2million votes,” Nzioka said.
