Nandi, Kenya: Industrialisation Minister Henry Kosgey has conceded defeat in his bid for Nandi County senate seat, even before official announcement of results by IEBC.

The minister took everyone by surprise when he arrived with a smile on his face at St. Peter’s Primary polling centre shortly before six in the morning.

About Henry Kosgey, prominent political figure in Nandi County

Henry Kosgey, a former Industrialization Minister and prominent political figure in Nandi County, was defeated in the 2013 Nandi County Senate race.

He contested the seat on an ODM ticket but was beaten by Stephen Sang of the URP party. Kosgey conceded defeat early, acknowledging the will of the electorate and congratulating Sang on his victory.​

Samson Cherargei of the UDA party wins Agian in Nandi Seat

In the 2025 general elections, Samson Cherargei of the UDA party retained the Nandi County Senate seat, defeating his only competitor, Mark Kirwa of the Jubilee Party, who secured 20,900 votes compared to Cherargei’s 284,374.

As of now, there is no information indicating that Henry Kosgey is actively involved in the 2025 Nandi County Senate race.
