Kenyan man drowns in Ocean Shores, Washington beach

The body of a 21 year old Kenyan man from Tacoma,Washingtonย was recoveredย Mondayย morning from the shores of the Long Beach Peninsula, approximately one mile from where he had been reported missing.

According to credible sources, Morgan Njoroge and a group of about 10 Kenyans aged between 19 and 24yrs old left Tacoma on Saturday morning for what was to be aย funย filled getaway at the Long Beach ย – a popularย destinationย on the peninsula off the ocean shores of the pacific ocean some three hours away from Seattle,ย Washingtonย and two hours away from Portland, Oregon.

Reports indicate that lateย Sundayย evening approximatelyย 7pm, the group was reveling at the beach with the men swimming in the waters while the girls baskedย on the beachย when they noticed that Morgan had gone under a wave but had not resurfaced. The panicked group then raised the alarm, which triggered an intensive search led by the police, the Coast Guard and rescue volunteers.

With the tides getting higher and stronger, the now four hour longย search byย police divers and a Coast Guard helicopter rescue team was suspended until pastย 3 amย when the search resumed. Morganโ€™s lifeless body was recovered shortly afterย 5 am Mondayย Morning and the remains moved to the County Morgue for a post mortem.

Meanwhile, earlier reports attributed to the local TV channel KXRO News that had indicated the possibility of alcohol involvement in the drowning have been dismissed by the first responders.ย The medical examinerโ€™s office in its preliminary findings has ruled out foul play and intoxication.
