Makueni by-election underway,Kilonzo Jnr confident to win

The Wiper candidate for the Makueni Senate by election Mutula Kilonzo Jnr has said he is confident of victory.

Speaking after casting his vote at Uma Primary School polling station in Mbooni constituency Friday, Mr Kilonzo Jnr said he was ready to succeed his father Mutula Kilonzo.

“I am ready to fit in my father’s shoes,” he told reporters.

Mr Kilonzo Jnr said he was impressed with the general voting process except for a few hitches, where his name was not found in ballot papers in some polling stations in Kibwezi.

“This is a definitely normal election in Kenya and a normal election would have its own glitches here and there.

“It is not an exercise in perfection but the most important thing is that the people of Makueni have been given a chance to vote for a candidate of their choice,” he said.

He declared that he was satisfied with the ballot paper after his name was superimposed by the IEBC.

“At first, I was worried as a candidate about the position of my name in the ballot paper but after my supporters have expressed their satisfaction, I believe it will be a free and fair election.”
