NAIROBI, Kenya Aug 24 โ Police on Saturday morning raided businessman Kamlesh Pattniโs office in Westlands, Nairobi barely three weeks after he was kicked out of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
The plainclothes officers conducting the raid arrived at the offices located at Austen place at dawn and were still there by 11 am.
They were seen taking away computers and documents but no official brief was given to journalists who camped there.
โWe are not allowed to give you any brief, get more information from our seniors,โ one officer said.
It was not immediately clear if the raid was linked to Pattniโs Duty Free shops destruction at JKIA where he enjoyed exclusive rights for several years.
The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) management said Pattni was ejected out of the airport on expiry of a lease agreement but the controversial businessman insists his rights were violated.
A week after the shops were destroyed, fire gutted a large section of the airport, paralyzing operations after destroying the international arrivals and departure lounges.
Police have not established the cause of the fire in a probe conducted jointly with detectives from the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and other agencies.-capitalfm.co.ke
