Lupita Nyong;o is the name that has taken over Hollywood for a while now. Ever since her debut in Hollywood movie ’12 years a slave’, the spotlight has been on the 30 year old Kenyan actress who awed the world with her acting in the slave movie. Well, Oprah Winfrey who might be Lupita’s competitor for Oscar’s ‘Best Supporting Actress Category’ watched the movie and described Lupita’s perfomance as amazing. If you understand what influence Oprah has, you will know that getting a nod from her is very much of a big deal
On an interview with Vanity Fair’s June Miller at Fox Searchlight’s Holiday Party IN L.A, Lupita describes meeting Oprah as an unbelievable experience. This is what she had to say,
“I did the Hollywood Reporter roundtable with her. I was sitting at my makeup station and the hair stylist looked at me in the mirror and mouthed, ‘Oprah.’ I was like, ‘What?!’” “It was like slow motion. I got up. I turned around and she was there. Her arms were outstretched and she gave me a big hug. She was like, ‘You were amazing!’”
Lupita played the role of Patsey alongside big stars including Brad Pitt and according to critics, she executed her role perfectly and this might even land her an Oscar Award for best supporting actress where she is to be pitted against Julia Roberts and popular talk show host Oprah Winfrey.-niaje.com
