Kenyan Entrepreneur Named In 2014 Forbes 30 Under 30′ List


Kenya’s Kennedy Odede has been named in the 2014 Forbes 30 Under 30 list of Social Entrepreneurs.

Kennedy who is 29, was recognized for his efforts of empowering his fellow Kenyans by founding a Kibera-based tution-free school for Girls and a community centre through his organization ‘Shining Hope For Communities’.

Kennedy Odede grew up in Nairobi’s Kibera slum and never went to school, yet secured a scholarship to study in the U.S. Now he’s empowering his Kenyan neighbors. His Shining Hope for Communities runs the tuition-free local Kibera School for Girls, and an adjacent center for the community, with health care, clean water and sanitation services, a library and computer lab.


Forbes Social Entrepreneurs 30 Under 30, recognizes various youth under the age of 30 who have made a major impact in their society through various investment that improve the quality of life for those around them.
