Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama is the new 2013 sports personality of the year. He was highly honoured during the UK Kenyan Achievers Awards ceremony held in London over the weekend.

Wanyama has had an outstanding season in the UK this year, initially with Scottish Club Celtic FC where he won the league and domestic cup title, before moving to EPL club Southampton in a record deal. This significant transfer was another way Victor Wanyama felt honoured by his accomplishments.

โ€œI am happy with this recognition and promise to keep flying our countryโ€™s flag whenever offered an opportunity,โ€ Wanyama told the audience. Other winners at the event included Dr Moses Langat who claimed the 2013 Academic award and Miss Stessy Nyaga who bagged the 2013 Young Star award. Highly honoured as well was Preston Oburalia who received the Jubilee award.

Also in attendance was UKAA director Ken Mathiu, celebrity comedian Richard Blackwood and 2013 business personality winner Miss Evelyn Mukanda. Each individual felt highly honoured by their respective awards.
