The greatest deliverance we will ever receive is the deliverance from self. We often do or do not do things based on what people think about us. At one point or another we have struggled with getting approval from those around us thus we end up being people pleasers rather than pleasing God.
Our bondage to people makes us the slaves of our reputations. This leads us to a place of conforming to the world instead of letting God continually mould us into His image. We then end up making our self-image our god because we increase as God decreases.
Until God delivers us from the need of approval from others, we will always be bound by the need of pleasing people. We need to remember that no matter how hard we try, we cannot please all of the people all the time. Therefore, let us find our sole identity in Christ and by choosing to follow God’s way.
