Kenyan Chumba sets Tokyo Marathon record

Dickson Chumba of Kenya stormed to victory on Sunday in the Tokyo Marathon, posting a race-record 2 hours 5 minutes and 42 seconds.

Tadese Tola of Ethiopia ran a 2:05:57 to finish second, while Kenyan Sammy Kitwara was third in 2:06:30.

Kohei Matsumura led Japan men in the event, finishing eighth in 2:08:09.

On the women’s side, Tirfi Tsegaye of Ethiopia won with a time 2:22:23. Ethiopia’s Berhane Dibaba followed in 2:22:30 and Kenya’s Lucy Kabuu was third in 2:24:16.-japan-news.com
