Kohei Matsumura led Japan men in the event, finishing eighth in 2:08:09.
On the women’s side, Tirfi Tsegaye of Ethiopia won with a time 2:22:23. Ethiopia’s Berhane Dibaba followed in 2:22:30 and Kenya’s Lucy Kabuu was third in 24: 16.
