Someone once said that holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else but you are the one who gets burned. An angry heart burning with revenge can act in a way that in the end leads to destruction.
When Abelโs animal sacrifice received divine favor and Cainโs offering of fruit was rejected, Cain burned with anger but the Lord warned him that sin was lying at the door and its desire was for him but he should rule over it. However, Cain gave in to his evil desires which resulted to the first murder and departure from the presence of the Lord.
Do you have feelings of jealousy or anger toward someone? If so you have a choice of giving in to revenging or letting go and letting God deal with the situation. Remember that if you ignore the struggle, it will only get worse and control you. Rely on the Lord and ask for His help for in His strength you will have victory.
Ephesians 4:26-27ย “In your anger do not sinโ :Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.โ
