Yesterday, traffic along Thika Road was disrupted by demonstrators for over 6 hours. Matatu operators and residents of Githurai 45 blocked the road to protest the arrest and prosecution of a police officer accused of murder.

Constable Titus Ngamau Musila allegedly shot and killed Kenneth Kimani Mwangi on Sunday 14 April 2013 and Oscar Muchoki Mwangi, an older brother to Kenneth Kimani, on Sunday 24 August 2014 in Githurai. The protesters want all charges dropped, saying he was helping them by being ruthless in fighting crime.

Motorists using the road were forced to turn back at Kahawa Wendani for those heading to town, and at Roysambu, for those heading out of town.

As a result, the Eastern bypass remained extremely busy throughout the day, with all traffic finally joining Mombasa road.
