Cord MPs on Monday instructed the coalition’s legal team to handle the case of Allan Okengo alias Lieutenant Wadi, a university student jailed for two years for incitement and insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta through facebook.
The MPs said Wadi’s sentencing was based on archaic provisions of the Penal Code.
Cord leader Raila Odinga whose son passed away on Sunday was also present at the meeting together with other Cord Principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetang’ula.
The MPs also instructed the Director of Public Prosecutions to commence investigations into the murder of an ICC witness Meshack Yebei whose mutilated and burnt body was retrieved on Saturday from the River Yala bridge by police.
The family said he was kidnapped near his home in Uasin Gishu county on Sunday December 28th and driven away by unidentified people who had two black cars.
