Gamadhere is believed to have been behind the horrific Garissa University attack which left over 148 people deads.

โ€œThe drone strike that killed Al Shabaab leaders took place Thursday 2am at Juungal area, between Baardheere and Buur Hajje in Somalia,โ€ said Interior Ministryโ€™s spokesperson Mwenda Njoka on his twitter account.

According to residents, the drone struck a strategic stronghold of the Islamist group Al Shabaab and destroyed a vehicle belonging to the militants in the early hours of Thursday.

“Last night, a drone smashed an al Shabaab car believed to be carrying three officials,” said local elder Nur Farah told Reuters on Thursday.

The car, which was believed to be carrying militants, was hit just outside the town of Bardere, which al Shabaab captured from government forces in 2009 and has controlled ever since.
